Apple has just announced a free repair service program for some iPhone 14 Plus models with problems with the rear camera.
The issue prevents iPhone 14 Plus users from previewing images. Fortunately, only a small percentage of devices manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024 are affected by the issue.

This is Apple's first free repair service program in years, following a repair program for some iPhone 12 models in 2021 related to speaker issues. The new program will last for a year and is aimed at fixing camera issues for affected devices.
iPhone 14 Plus users can check their device's eligibility by entering their serial number on Apple's website. If the device is listed as affected, Apple will repair it for free. However, this is only available if there is no other damage to the device. If the iPhone 14 Plus has issues such as a cracked back glass, users will need to fix them before the repair can be performed and may incur additional repair costs.
The program applies to iPhone 14 Plus models within three years of purchase. If users have already paid for repairs for camera issues, they can request a refund from Apple. Before performing the repair, the iPhone manufacturer will inspect the device to confirm eligibility.
Users need to make sure the iPhone 14 Plus is in normal condition before asking Apple for repair.
Users can choose one of the following methods to perform the repair:
- Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
- Make an appointment at an Apple retail store.
- Contact Apple support to arrange mail-in service to a repair center.
Note that Apple may restrict or limit repair service to the “original country or region of purchase.” Additionally, the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are not eligible for this program.
