According to information from WccfTech, Apple is expected to start mass production of the M4 MacBook Pro in the fourth quarter of this year. A reputable display analyst has estimated that the mini-LED panels for both the 14-inch and 16-inch versions will be shipped around July or August.

Based on this timing and recent evidence that a retail box of the product has been leaked, likely belonging to the smaller MacBook Pro M4 model, Apple appears to be preparing to announce new models in the near future.

Leaked images shared by blogger @ShrimpApplePro on social network X (Twitter) show the specifications of MacBook Pro M4. Specifically, this model will be equipped with M4 chip with 16GB of built-in RAM and 512GB of NVMe memory.

Zooming in on the image reveals more details. While some of the details are blurry, it’s clear that the M4 chip in the new MacBook Pro will have a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, similar to the specs of the chip in the high-end OLED iPad Pro .

Aside from the new Apple Silicon chip, the rest of the hardware appears to be unchanged from the M3 model, suggesting Apple will likely keep the same design, which many users have been expecting to see a change over the years.

The base model of the MacBook Pro M3 has 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, so this box could be for a higher-spec MacBook Pro M4. Apple is notorious for offering limited storage options even on its high-end machines, so hopefully these specs are for the base model.

In addition to the M4 chip, previous leaks also said that Apple is preparing M4 Pro and M4 Max chip versions for higher-end models. In a previous Geekbench 6 test, the M4 chip easily surpassed the M3 Pro and Snapdragon X Elite, and even the 9-core CPU version outperformed the M3 and M2 in both single-core and multi-core tests.

The new Apple Silicon processor will adopt the ARMv9 architecture, supporting Scalable Matrix Extension (SME), helping to handle complex tasks more efficiently. Gaming and multitasking performance promises to be significantly improved compared to previous versions.
