iPhone 16 Pro Max compares processing speed with Galaxy S24 Ultra

Will the new generation A18 Pro chip on the iPhone 16 Pro Max help this smartphone beat the Galaxy S24 Ultra in the speed and processing performance test?

When comparing "blockbuster" smartphones, a question that many people are interested in is which product is more powerful and has faster processing speed?

iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra are two of the most high-end smartphones on the market today, considered typical representatives of the two platforms iOS and Android. Both products have powerful configurations and many features.

While the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with Qualcomm's highest-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and is designed and optimized specifically for the Galaxy S24 product line; the iPhone 16 Pro Max is equipped with the new generation A18 Pro chip developed by Apple, which the "apple" confidently claims is the most powerful mobile chip on the market today.

iPhone 16 Pro Max compares processing speed with Galaxy S24 Ultra - 1

Compare detailed configuration of iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra duo.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is rated to have a better processor, but Apple's smartphone is only equipped with 8GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra has 12GB of RAM, which in theory will help the Galaxy S24 Ultra outperform its rival in terms of multitasking capabilities.

In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is equipped with NVMe standard storage, which in theory will provide faster data retrieval speeds than the UFS 4.0 memory standard used on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max will also have a slight advantage in processing speed when using the iOS platform optimized by Apple for iPhone. The iPhone 16 Pro Max's screen also has a lower resolution than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, meaning it will take less time to process graphics.

So when comparing the actual processing speed between the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which product will win? To find the answer, the Youtube channel PhoneBuff made a video to compare the processing speed of the two products when running the same tasks.

To ensure fairness in its test, PhoneBuff used two specialized robotic arms to simultaneously open the same apps on the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Once an application is launched, the robot arm will automatically return to the smartphone's home screen to activate the next application and continue like that until it has run all 16 different applications in turn, including social networking applications, games, e-commerce applications or office processing...

After activating all 16 pre-prepared applications, PhoneBuff will calculate the total time it takes for both smartphones to finish running all of these applications. Then, the robot arm will start activating the previously launched applications to test the multitasking speed of each product.

The final results show that the Galaxy S24 Ultra took 2 minutes and 13.27 seconds to launch all 16 apps for the first time, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max was slightly faster at just 2 minutes and 13.13 seconds to do the same.

In round 2, the iPhone 16 Pro Max continued to win when it only took 47.83 seconds to reopen all apps, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra took 49.52 seconds to do this.

In the end, the iPhone 16 Pro Max beat its rival by taking just 3 minutes to complete the test, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra took 3 minutes and 2 seconds to complete.

Although the difference in processing time is not too big, this result also shows that Apple is not exaggerating the processing performance of the A18 Pro chip on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
