Redmi K80 is coming soon with a "huge" 6,500 mAh battery and impressive camera

Xiaomi is about to launch Redmi K80 with 6,500 mAh battery and IP68 water resistance, promising many impressive features.

According to Gizmochina, Xiaomi is expected to launch the new Redmi K80 series in November or December this year. The series will include two versions: the standard Redmi K80 and the Redmi K80 Pro. Recently, information about the standard Redmi K80 has been leaked, highlighting a large 6,500 mAh battery.

Large batteries, especially 6,000 mAh or more, are becoming a trend for smartphones in 2024. Many high-end devices are rumored to have batteries in this range, while the upcoming Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus has also been confirmed to have a 6,200 mAh battery.

According to information from the account @Smart Pikachu - a reputable technology leaker with many posts revealing accurate information on Weibo, the Redmi K80 will have "top-notch water resistance". This is a welcome upgrade, because last year, the Redmi K70 and K70 Pro models were not equipped with water resistance.

We can expect the Redmi K80 to be IP68 or even IP69 certified, especially since the cheaper Redmi Note 14 Pro has already been confirmed to have an IP69 rating.

Additionally, the leak suggests that the Redmi K80 will come with a telephoto lens capable of taking macro shots, marking a step up from the Redmi K70, which only had a triple camera setup without a telephoto lens. The back of the phone is said to be made of glass, with a white option possibly being one of the color options.

Previously, a report also said that the Redmi K80 could have a 2K OLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. It is expected that the Redmi K80 will be launched alongside the Pro version, with the possibility that both will have the same processor and screen, but may differ in battery capacity and charging speed.

It is likely that the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro will be rebranded as POCO F7 and POCO F7 Pro when they launch in markets outside China.
