Privileges only available on the premium iPhone 17 Pro duo

According to the latest report, Apple will launch a super powerful chip in 2025 but only for the iPhone 17 Pro series.

Apple is expected to introduce 2nm chips next year, just in time for the launch of the iPhone 17 series. The latest reports reveal that they could be manufactured by TSMC. Unfortunately, the Taiwanese chipmaker is having production issues, so the SoC will only be launched on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

TSMC will supply the N2 process to Apple and Nvidia.

According to reports from Taiwan, the chip company has demonstrated the new product but still needs the help of other suppliers to install it in smartphones.

According to Chou News Agency, the partners supplying materials, equipment, silicon intelligence (IP) and electronic design automation (EDA) for this chip are competing quite fiercely.

The 2nm line is now installed at the Baoshan (China) factory and will start trial production in the third quarter of 2024, three months earlier than expected. TSMC is expected to supply the N2 process to Apple and Nvidia, helping the company to leapfrog Samsung and Intel in the chip manufacturing market.

When the 2nm chip is integrated into the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, this pair of high-end smartphones will have breakthrough performance compared to this year's iPhone 16 Pro generation.

Kuo did some analysis over the weekend, based on shipping times on Apple’s website as well as a “supply chain survey.” The analyst found the following:

- Demand for iPhone 16 Pro Max down 16% year-over-year

- iPhone 16 Pro demand down 27% year-over-year

- Demand for iPhone 16 Plus increased 48% compared to last year

- Demand for iPhone 16 increased 10% compared to last year

Interestingly, this year, people are more interested in the standard iPhone than the iPhone Pro, especially the larger iPhone 16 Plus.

The iPhone 16 series is estimated to have sold around 37 million units, down about 12.7% from the iPhone 15 series in its first week on sale. While the iPhone 16 Plus saw strong sales growth, demand for the iPhone 16 Pro fell much more sharply.
