A survey of Apple Watch users suggests Apple is planning a smart ring.
A recent survey sent out by Apple to Apple Watch users has sparked rumors that the tech company is seriously considering developing a smart ring.
AppleInsider reports that the survey included questions about whether users use other wearables besides the Apple Watch, specifically smart rings. This suggests that Apple is studying the market and gauging user interest in the product.
Apple just conducted a survey about smart rings.
This isn’t the first time Apple has been rumored to be working on a smart ring, with the company filing several related patents over the years. A smart ring could be the perfect complement to the Apple Watch, offering health and activity tracking features in a more compact, convenient design.
While Apple has not officially confirmed anything, this survey, along with previous patents, suggests the possibility of launching an Apple-branded smart ring in the not-too-distant future.
However, users may have to wait a little longer, as this product is not expected to appear at Apple's upcoming "It's Glowtime" event.
Imagine a small device on your finger that can control everything from your iPhone to your home appliances.
That’s the idea behind Apple ’s latest research into a smart ring, which the company was rumored to be working on earlier this year. The latest patent Apple has filed suggests that the ring could become a hub for all of a user’s devices. It could be used to control an iPhone, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV, and even home appliances.

The patent describes a smart ring equipped with a variety of sensors, including force sensors, proximity sensors, and even a microphone. These sensors would allow the ring to detect gestures and commands from the user. For example, they could point at an Apple TV and say “mute” to mute it.
Of course, it wouldn’t just be a remote control, but would also have the big benefit of tracking the user’s health. For example, it could track heart rate, steps, sleep habits… and then display that information on an iPhone or other Apple products. This sounds very similar to what Samsung ’s Galaxy Ring is doing.
Apple also envisions the smart ring as a personal assistant that lives on a user’s finger and can help users perform tasks like setting alarms, sending messages, and finding their phone.
