Mazda EZ-6 is a preview of the new generation Mazda6 with a transformed design.
Within the framework of the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, Mazda launched a completely new pure electric car model called Mazda EZ-6. It seems that China is the key market for this Japanese sedan.
Mazda EZ-6 is a product born through the cooperation of Mazda and Changan of China. Explaining the name EZ-6, E means electric, and Z means zero emissions.
In terms of design, the Mazda EZ-6 shares the same chassis platform with the Deepal SL03 - another electric car model of the Changan sub-brand but has a different front and rear.
Specifically, the Mazda EZ-6's front light cluster is separated from the daytime positioning lights and headlights. The front still shows the Kodo language, but the grille is no longer there, but instead is a 3D interface with integrated LEDs.
At the rear, the circular taillight cluster is connected by a horizontal light strip; This is also a detail that is not found on its "brother" Deepal SL03, but the concave rear bumper design is the same. The Mazda logo on the back is removed and replaced with the words MAZDA.
According to some early published information, the Mazda EZ-6 has dimensions of 4,921 x 1,890 x 1,485 mm, which is longer and wider than the current Mazda6 (4,865 x 1,840 x 1,450 mm).
Regarding the interior, the Mazda EZ-6 has its own dashboard design, pursuing a minimalist style with most control buttons integrated into the large 14.6-inch touch screen of the information system. Entertainment is located above the air conditioning vents. The sound system is not the usual Bose but a high-end Sony one. Recessed interior decorative lights with 64 color options. It is difficult to find any familiar "Mazda quality" details on this new electric car model.
In terms of safety, the Mazda EZ-6 has a 360-degree camera, front/rear collision sensors plus an advanced ADAS feature package.
There is no information about the powertrain yet, but the EZ-6 has been confirmed to be equipped with the same engine as the Deepal SL03, with two options. One is a pure electric configuration, with a rear-mounted electric motor, producing 215 horsepower or 255 horsepower - both with 320Nm of torque.
It is unclear whether the EZ-6 will be sold internationally, or if there will be a similar electric version of the Mazda6 to replace it for global sale.
